The
suspension of a car allows unsuspended parts (including the wheels, the braking system etc) to be attached to the suspended mass (including the body, engine etc.).
The
suspension parts of a car consist of the ball joints, the
suspension arms, the
shock absorbers and the coil springs. The suspension at the front and at the rear is very similar. The suspension not only suspends the suspended mass of the vehicle but also helps to absorb movements due to irregularities in the road. As such, the suspension parts are vital for comfort.
The suspension parts are linked to the
steering parts including the
steering rack, the tie rods and the tie rod ends.
