The window regulators or window winders are located inside the car door. They are car parts consisting of metal rails, a metal support for the electric motor and wires and pulleys.
The entire system is connected to the switch or winder at the inside of your door. The switch or winder is the part which is used to move the window up and down. More recently constructed vehicles tend to have electric window regulators whereas older cars still have a winder system.
When your car is equipped with electric windows, there are two different options: regulators with and without a comfort function. When a window regulator has a comfort function it means you’ll only have to press the switch once in order for the window to roll down completely. Window regulators that do not have this option, the switch needs to be held.
