What is a belt drive system?

The belt drive of a combustion engine consists of various car parts including the camshaft, the valves and of course the timing belt or timing chain. The timing belt determines the exhaust of gasses and the admission of air and fuel into the combustion chamber. A drive belt is therefore essential for a combustion engine. Consequently all drive parts need to be checked regularly. In general the timing belt will need to be replaced twice in the life of a vehicle.
