What is a
belt drive system?
The belt drive of a combustion engine consists of various
car parts including the
camshaft, the valves and of course the timing belt or timing chain. The
timing belt determines the exhaust of gasses and the admission of air and fuel into the combustion chamber. A drive belt is therefore essential for a combustion engine. Consequently all drive parts need to be checked regularly. In general the timing belt will need to be replaced twice in the life of a vehicle. When replacing your timing belt, at Mister-Auto.co.uk, we recommend you change your
water pump at the same time. Vehicles with a timing chain instead of a
timing belt are in general considered more reliable as a timing chain is never replaced and cannot snap. All that is necessary is to check whether the chain is greased sufficiently.
