What are drive belts for?
Drive belts are in general to drive a specific part of the engine. Most vehicles have several drive belts with each a different purpose. The
timing belt is a rather special drive belt, which drives the tensioner pulley as well as the
water pump. The other drive belts are the driving force behind
car parts including the
alternator, the ac compressor or the PAS pump for example. This drive belt is also known as the
v belt or the alternator belt.
