Mintex is a leading brand in friction parts. As such they are specialised in the production of both OE and aftermarket brake parts. The Mintex brand is owned by TMD Friction which started out in 1879 in Scotland. The first Mintex brake parts were issued as early as 1910. They were brake linings for the famous Ford Model T with 20.2 HP. As early as 1913 Mintex was sold on the European continent, starting in Germany under Textar. After World War II the Mintex expansion continued across Europe. Mintex parts were being mounted not only on American car makes but on European ones as well. The French Citroën DS or the British Triumph TR3 were both equipped with OE Mintex brake parts. Fifty years later, in the early 2000s the TMD Friction Group acquired companies such as Rütgers Automotive which is owner of the Pagid, Cobreq and Cosid brands but also the British Eurofriction Limited and the German Bremsen Technik.
