What is a brake master cylinder?
A brake, wheel or slave cylinder is part of the rear brakes of a car. Brake master cylinders
look a lot like a caliper
and has the same function.
In general, a master cylinder
converts non-hydraulic pressure into hydraulic pressure to then in turn move other, in this case brake, parts.
The brake cylinder
consists of two pistons which are fuelled by pressurized brake fluid. By means of the brake fluid, the pistons press the lining of the brakes against the inside of the brake drum
thereby creating the friction necessary to stop the vehicle. A brake cylinder can be bought separately or in a brake kit
